The key function of Fig Tree International Ltd is to provide advice, challenge and support to schools and other organisations both in the UK and internationally. The school improvement consultancy team fulfils this function and delivers a specialist offer to schools and other organisations.
This service was established to give schools the opportunity to secure additional support and to provide high quality training and support. Services offered complement and enhance the statutory and core functions.
The team consists of experienced advisors/consultants with a strong track record of improvement and an understanding of educational contexts. Advisors/Consultants all hold current DBS certificates. Furthermore, we also work with corporate companies in a coaching and/or team training capacity.
We are committed to ensuring a world class education system with a focus on Leadership, Teaching and Learning, innovative approaches to curriculum content and design and subject development and development and research.

We are an organisation which is positive, forward-thinking and forward-looking. We are nationally and internationally focused and the fig tree is recognised internationally and is thought, by some, to have symbolic meaning.

Ann Palmer has over 30 years of experience in schools and established a background in leading and turning around schools in challenging circumstances. Her exposure within the wider aspects of education has been both broad and diverse. She held headship roles in large, culturally-diverse schools in both primary and secondary phases. She is described as “a leader who leads with flair and vision” and is described as “inspirational”.
She was an experienced tutor on the NPQH programme, is an accredited executive Coach, and has been a keynote speaker for a variety of organisations including the SSAT, the National College and various MATs. Ann has a wealth of experience, having worked with governors, local authorities, the Department for Education as a School Improvement Partner, and universities in the UK and internationally. Ann’s coaching has led her into mentoring/supporting/coaching and appraising CEOs, principals, including international principals, and training other senior professionals in the teaching profession and in business. She is a qualified team coach also. She has facilitated on the NPQEL, NPQSL and Investing in Diversity programmes and is a MAT Trustee, School Governor and charity Trustee. As a Founding Fellow with the Chartered College of Teaching, she serves as a member of their Ethics Committee.
Ann is the founder of the ‘Confident Executive Leadership’ programme for black and Asian leaders, in addition to overseeing the accredited RACE Charter Mark for schools and colleges. As a practising Christian, Ann is values-led and is committed to addressing injustice in society and supporting individuals and organisations to be the best they can be.

Fig Tree International is proud to be one of a very small number of organisations represented in the Leadership and Innovation book. Launched to coincide with the 300th anniversary of the appointment of Britain’s first prime minister & Her Majesty The Queen’s 95th birthday, the book celebrates leadership across the full spectrum of British society & those pushing the boundaries of innovation.
The launch of the book was celebrated at an event in Westminster Abbey.
